To list of collections

This list provides an overview of all those collections that are identified by name.

The first item is Sacher's own collection, which formed the nucleus of and starting point for the Foundation's holdings. It is followed by collections devoted to the work of individual composers. Finally, after a number of collections from leading performers and other figures, the list ends with a group of collections preserved in photocopy.

Each entry leads to details on the holdings of the collection concerned. These holdings differ according to the collection's history and provenance: some consist mainly of autograph scores, while others also contain sketches and drafts, handwritten texts, correspondence, parts of the figure's private library, and other documentary material. As a rule, manuscripts from the collections are available on microfilm on the Foundation's premises.

The component parts of a collection can be readily identified using the «classification grid». This is not the place to publish detailed catalogues of the collections' holdings, for which interested readers are hereby referred to the Foundation's published inventories. Unpublished inventories are available internally for research on the Foundation's premises.
F. Hoffmann-LaRoche AG kindly lent its support to the photo-reproduction of the collection's documents and the digitalization of the sound recordings.
