This exhibition presented select drawings and music manuscripts, medieval illuminations, and autographs by writers and scholars from the world-famous collection of The Pierpont Morgan Library in New York. Scores by Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, and Mahler, drawings by Rembrandt, Piranesi, and Goya, and writings by Rousseau, Poe, and Einstein merge to create a rare and fascinating amalgam. The exhibition formed part of an exchange program with the Foundation, which in return mounted an exhibition of contemporary music manuscripts in New York with the title «Settling New Scores: Music Manuscripts from the Paul Sacher Foundation» (May-August 1998).
