Fonds Roger Reynolds

Large folder of musical manuscripts from Roger Reynolds

11.11.2014

The Paul Sacher Foundation has taken over a large folder of musical manuscripts from the papers of Roger Reynolds (b. 1934). It contains sketches, drafts and fair copies of Reynolds's works for string quartet and for unaccompanied violin, all written for Irvine Arditti or the Arditti Quartet.

Reynolds, who won a Pulitzer Prize for his composition Whispers Out of Time (1989), is an outstanding figure among present-day American composers, not least as a leading advocate for live electronics. He has taught at the University of California in San Diego since 1969.
